Dhoni Achieves Milestone in IPL

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 14: MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, has reached a remarkable milestone in his cricketing career, becoming the first player ever in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to achieve 200 fielding dismissals.

This historic accomplishment took place during a match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday.

In the 14th over of the game, Dhoni showcased his exceptional skills behind the stumps, marking a significant moment in IPL history. Ayush Badoni, attempting to accelerate the scoring during the middle overs, ventured out of his crease while facing Ravindra Jadeja.

Jadeja, utilizing his experience, bowled a delivery that beat Badoni's bat. Dhoni, with remarkable agility, swiftly collected the ball and dislodged the bails, achieving the milestone.

In his 271st IPL match, Dhoni reached the 200-dismissal mark by successfully catching Rishabh Pant in the final over, as LSG concluded their innings at 166/7. The veteran wicketkeeper now boasts a total of 201 dismissals, comprising 155 catches and 46 stumpings.

Former wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik follows in second place with 182 dismissals, while AB de Villiers from Royal Challengers Bengaluru ranks third with 126 dismissals.

In this record-setting match, Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first. Apart from a 50-run partnership between Mitchell Marsh (30 runs off 25 balls, including two fours and two sixes) and captain Pant, LSG struggled in the first half.

Pant delivered a solid performance, scoring 63 runs off 49 balls, featuring four boundaries and four sixes. He also formed a 53-run partnership with Abdul Samad (20 runs off 11 balls, with two sixes), helping LSG reach 166/7 in their allotted 20 overs. For CSK, Ravindra Jadeja (2/24) and Matheesha Pathirana (2/45) were the standout bowlers.
